Candles for Kings, Queens, and the Vatican. A legacy of illumination beginning in Sorrento, 1775.
The Ajello candle making tradition finds its origins in the coastal town of Sorrento, Italy, established in 1775. For nearly two and a half centuries, the Ajello family has maintained an unbroken chain of craftsmanship, spanning two continents and five generations.
What began on the Italian coast traveled to America in 1862, establishing the oldest continuous candle making family in the United States. From the Vatican to the White House, Ajello candles have illuminated history's most significant moments.

Just ten years after founding, Ajello received the ultimate ecclesiastical endorsement: a commission to produce all candles for the Vatican, establishing a standard of divine excellence.
Antonino Sr. and Jr. created an 18-foot memorial candle for opera legend Enrico Caruso. Designed to burn for 24 hours once a year, it has a lifespan of 18 centuries.
From the Waldorf Astoria in NYC to Beverly Hills, the Ajello family became the chandlers to the stars, illuminating the Golden Age of Cinema and modern productions.
